JAGDPANZER IV L48(Profiline/Asiatam/HL/Tamiya)
JAGDPANZER IV L48(Profiline/Asiatam/HL/Tamiya)
I received the Japanzer IV profiline kit from Welsh Dragon (THANKS!) yesterday! WOW, real nice castings and very thick upper section. It comes with a CD of a few pics on how to put together...but not really any instructions(no bif deal since it will be kit bashed anyway). Kit comes with about 38-40 fine cast resin parts. Plenty to trim off, but the resin files, sands, cuts easily. I only wish that profiline incorporated some tiny glass fiber into the resin to make it less brittle.
The pieces are not warped and fit together perfectly. Only real drawback is the lack of a metal barrel. No big deal either because I can use my spare Tammy panther 75mm aluminum barrel cut to size. Kit allows elevation, but not traverse.
Since the parts were so nicely made, I decided to use my Tammy P-IV hull from the Stug IV project. I also needed to significantly trim up the Tammy P-IV deck to get things close. Many JP-IV pics on the net to go by for the build.

looks great, the good thing about resin is that if it is warped you can put it in hot water and reshape it

Steenv: Did you post pics??
ICE: NICE tip!...do I have to stay out of the rain in 90+ weather???

90 DEG, Must be nice enjoying that cool weather, today in the south Memphis,Tn heat index of 111,they were predicting 118 but a nice thunderstorm rolled in and cooled things off this afternoon.
Xrad you do seem to have a lot of energy for custom builds. And I must admit you are very creative. My problem is no air conditioning in my work area. But after 7:00pm it does cool off. Sax

So far so good:
The HL upgrade metal wheels and P-IV track (69$ from canada RC dynasty). Detail is fine enough and I ran a set of these on my P-III for months without a problem. They are the 'open' pin closed guidehorn style but you will not notice once on the tank.
'Bag O Rust' technique for some dirt and color on the tracks. Primer brown to get other color on top....Probably olive with spotty cammo....
I used Tammy drive wheels and they fit the mato/hl tracks perfectly. Hl P-IV has some better detail than the tammy, especially the rear bulkhead
the tammy hull pieces fit so nicely, I have not yet decided on cutting off the fenders for fitting of the resin parts..
